We will provide all basic materials for your course but you are welcome to bring your own if you prefer. One-day courses are non-residential but you are welcome to stay with us. Let us know when booking if you require accommodation or have any special requirements.
Drawing techniques This course focuses on the core elements of line, tone and texture using a variety of different drawing materials - soft pencils, graphite, stick charcoal and compressed charcoal, conte, pen and ink. See how combining materials gives your work added interest.
Drawing and painting Try a morning of drawing in a variety of different media in the studio and an afternoon of trying out different painting methods The day also includes discussion about different artists techniques.
Exploring colour A day for those keen to try out different colour media. Work in conte or pastel over painted washes or experiment with acrylic or oil. Try combining simple prints over paint or work on different types of paper The course includes instruction on how to use colour effectively whether bold and colourful or dark and moody.
Mixed media This day course gives you the opportunity to try working in different media from charcoal and pastel to paint and even printing. A taster day full of interrelating activities.
Life Drawing This course will give you the opportunity to work from a life model for a day. It is based around line and shape, form, tone and composition. The course encourages an approach to drawing as a means of learning to ‘see’, observing actual visual properties. Quick analytical studies as well as a longer pose from life are included as well as the opportunity to try out a variety of different drawing media. |
